How To Sing Pop Punk – Avoid This Common Mistake When Singing Pop Punk, Post-Hardcore & Metalcore

The biggest issue singers face when trying to sing in a pop punk style is that they try to sing in an overly whiney voice, attempting to imitate their favorite artists. 

The issue with imitating other artists voices when singing pop punk is that it usually leads to singing in a very strained and tight position. Of course it is possible to sing in a very expressive pop punk style without straining, but you must first develop your regular vocal technique. 

Before you attempt to sing in a pop punk style sound, you need to able to sing powerfully and high into your range WITHOUT straining. 

After you’ve developed the ability to sing in your natural voice without straining, you’ll be able to experiment with a pop punk style sound without introducing so much strain and tension in the voice.
