Post Malone – Stay Cover

Jan 20, 2021

I was listening to the new Post Malone album (which I think has some incredible songs) & began singing along to this one, eventually deciding to cover it! I thought it was so cool to see a Beatles//Oasis inspired song in the charts as before I began listening to more modern and alternative music I grew up on the classics of music of all eras. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Metallica, The White Stripes. Pretty much anything that is highly regarded in the musical eras I would have had on my iPod nano by age 15. I think Post Malone has the essence of these great bands not only in this song but also in his hip hop & trap styles, not to mention he also grew up on alternative music and loves that scene.

I began practicing this song vocally two weeks before I recorded it as I knew I wanted to record the vocals in a live manner rather than punching it in line by line. Singing entire songs or at least many lines in bulk is the fastest way to not only highlight your vocal inconsistencies but on the flip side, strengthen your voice in the best way possible if done correctly. I began pursuing singing four years ago now and when I began I would have NEVER been able to sing this song unless I moved the key down many semitones underneath an F4 and even then it still would have been painful. After building my technique up to the point where I could handle more weight in the voice, I was able to expand my vocal range. This cover is an example of my voice starting to refine over the years of training, as I can now control my voice in a soft tone & controllably belt into the sound within the same phrase.

If you are looking for the same transformative change in your voice that I have experienced- go ahead and book a lesson with me. My mission is to share my vocal information (that works effectively)  with the world.
